Vegan Curries at Nepalese Chef: What to Order in Nepalese Chef Gloucester and Cheltenham

Some evenings call for a warm curry, a little rice and fresh naan to scoop up every last bit of sauce. If you’re looking for vegan food in Gloucester or Cheltenham, you’ll find plenty to choose from at Nepalese Chef, including familiar Indian favourites and Nepalese dishes that might become your next regular order.

A little something to start with

Start with our staple appetizer that is vegan poppadoms and chutneys after that you can try our very popular vegan vegetable momos as your starter. These steamed dumplings are filled with minced vegetables and tofu, and served with a tomato and sesame sauce. They’re lovely for sharing while you decide which vegan curries to order.

Fancy something crispy? Try our vegan onion bhaji. Or go for vegan garlic mushrooms, sautéed in vegan butter with freshly chopped garlic. Sometimes, the simplest starters are the ones everyone keeps reaching for.

Which vegan curry will you choose?

For something gently sweet, try Vegan Mango Keshari. Mango, cardamom, ginger and garlic blend with cashew and brown onion paste to make a comforting curry with plenty of flavour.

If coconut is more your thing, Vegan Chhate Milan brings together mushrooms, creamy coconut milk, black pepper and lemon leaves. Its medium heat gives it a little warmth without taking over the dish.

Our Vegan Dall Rimjhim is a hearty Nepalese lentil dish with lemon juice, fresh green chillies, garlic and tomatoes. With a medium-to-hot flavour, it’s a lovely choice when you want something warming with a little kick.

For lovers of hot curries, there’s Vegan Jomsom. Onions, capsicum and freshly minced garlic come together with Nepalese herbs and spices in the chef’s own recipe.

And if you’re feeling brave, meet Vegan Vegetable Tawa. Fresh garlic, green chillies, tomatoes and aromatic spices make this an extremely spicy choice. If a proper chilli kick is what you’re after, this could be your curry.

Each of these curries has vegetable, tofu or vegan Quorn options, so you can choose the version that suits you.

Rice, Vegan naan bread and that last bit of sauce

Pair your curry with Brown Harmony Rice, our steamed brown rice. Or If you’re sharing and fancy a rice dish with more going on, add a vegan vegetable biryani with vegan biryani sauce to the table.

And leave room for naan. You might be thinking, “Wait, can naan really be vegan?” At Nepalese Chef, yes! Choose plain naan, garlic coriander naan, peshawari naan or chilli coriander naan if you fancy a little extra heat. Tear off a piece, dip it into your curry and scoop up the last of that lovely sauce. You’ll be glad you saved some room.

Note: Please let our team know about any food allergies before ordering. Vegan dishes can still contain allergens, including sesame, soya, nuts and mustard.

The Momo Story

There is a smell that every Nepali recognises before they even turn the corner. It rises in thin clouds of steam from iron tiered steamers balanced over open flames - warm, garlicky, faintly spiced, deeply comforting. It is the smell of momo. And if you have ever stood on a galli in Kathmandu, waiting for that little crescent of dough to be placed in front of you, you will know that momo is not simply food. It is a feeling, an emotion of every Nepali household. At Nepalese Chef - with our family in Cheltenham and Gloucester we have spent years chasing that feeling and we believe we have found it.
